Amanda M. Hansen

Ms. Hansen is the Resources Branch Chief at the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) under NOAA's National Weather Service. In this pivotal role, Amanda leads critical programmatic management functions—including strategic planning, contract oversight, financial stewardship, facilities and supply chain management, human resources, security and compliance-ensuring the operational readiness of a globally deployed environmental observation network. As a senior leader, she provides high-level strategic guidance and decision-making authority over mission-essential resources that impact these systems. Amanda's portfolio includes close coordination with senior leadership at NOAA and NWS, leading transformative efforts in staffing, policy development, program evaluation, and budget execution.

Previously, Amanda served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff and Deputy Comptroller at the Naval Meteorology and Oceanography Command (CNMOC), where she oversaw all facets of financial management for the command and led a broad spectrum of operational domains including manpower planning, civilian payroll, security, training, facilities, and total force management.

Before joining CNMOC, she served ten years as the Comptroller and Resources Director at the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO), managing annual budgets exceeding $200 million and directing strategic programs across multiple appropriations and classified programs. With a career built on high-impact leadership, Amanda was a trusted advisor to senior military and civilian executives, known for her ability to lead large multidisciplinary teams, implement process improvements, and deliver on mission-critical goals. Driven by a deep commitment to excellence, integrity, and public service, Amanda has received numerous awards for outstanding performance, including the Meritorious Civilian Service Award from the Chief of Naval Operations and multiple awards throughout her 20 years of federal service.

She holds a Master's degree in Business from William Carey College and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi, and maintained multiple advanced certifications, including Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) as a former Military Comptroller and Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Level III.
