SYNOPSIS FOR NORTHERN CALIFORNIA WATERS
Dangerous gale-force winds and very steep, hazardous seas will develop today and last through Sunday night. Northerly winds will increase quickly this morning, reaching 25 to 30 knots with gusts up to 40 knots by the afternoon. These strong winds will cause seas to become very steep and choppy, building to 12 to 15 feet. These "square" waves can easily capsize smaller vessels and will make harbor entrances dangerous. Winds and seas will slowly calm down on Monday. However, a new weather system will bring southerly winds and rain on Tuesday, followed by another round of strong north winds and building waves toward the middle of next week.
