Station 41009 - Search and Rescue Data
CANAVERAL 20 NM East of Cape Canaveral, FL
Station 41009 last reported from its moored position at 0539Z 10/07/2016 and ceased all transmissions after 0830Z 10/07/2016. Data prior to the last transmit suggested that the buoy was not at its moored position leaving its location and condition unknown. The US Coast Guard has confirmed that the buoy hull with no top-side structure is located at location 28 28' 58" N 80 12' 34" W, 2.6nm South-southwest (206 degrees) of its original mooring position. Recovery of the hull and station restoration dates will be posted to the NDBC Maintenance schedule as soon as they are finalized.
Right whales are active off FL from November to April. Speed restrictions of 10 knots apply to vessels 65 feet or greater in specific areas and times along the U.S. East Coast.
